Briefing
Hello, hello, we're a BF2 clan.
Actually, there's a bit more to it. We're a veteran BF2 clan with our glory days long gone, spending our days on IRC, chewing tobacco, annoying the youngsters with war stories, spilling the beer over keyboards, engage in lying competitions or try to win the QuizBot trivia. Sometimes, if the sun is kind enough and the day is hot, we may even engage in a friendly clan war or a gather on our private BF2 server. Or just have some fun on a public one. BTW, we are supposed to have another public, private ranked BF2 server somewhere around here, but looks like it got misplaced somehow. As we really, truly, deeply despise cheaters, the servers are streaming to PunksBusted.
Funny facts
(blatant promo)
- We're international!!!1 During the wars the Teamspeak is filled with cursing in exotic languages like Slovene, Estonian and Dutch.
- Mature players!!! Plenty of old farts with some youngsters here and there.
- Errr, what else?
The past (glory days)
Our greatest BF2 achievemnt so far would be the Spring 2006 Clanbase Open Cup where we participated in the 12vs12 Conquest second league and managed to get to the finals which we played on 16.07.2006 against our good friends MixPT, a mixed Portugal Team.
The first map played was Dalian Plant and we started as USMC on the first round. As PLA has a definite advantage in the air with J-10s we tried to minimize the damage by taking flags on the coast first, leaving the otherwise very important Main Entrance to MxPT team. When the two flags were secured we pushed to Maintenance Building next. The battle then revolved around Main Entrance with helis and jets dealing the death from above. MxPT endangered the Reactor Towers flag several times, even turning it to white, but we somehow managed to get it back. Many lives were lost but the tickets ran in our favor, ending the match with 228-151.
In the second run MxPT, playing as USMC made a great start and got both Reactor Towers and Main Entrance flags before our team managed to get there. Fortunately we got at least Maintenance Building from which we attacked Main and South Docks. There was a lot of flag swapping until we finally managed to push them back to sea. And hammer them with everything we got. Until they managed to sneak back to land and took some of our flags. And then again, and again until the time run out at 268-102.
On Mashtuur we started as MEC, trying to secure the victory with a fullcap, going to several flags simultaneously. Boy, we did a mistake... MxPT managed to repel our attacks easily and even block our tank crew on its starting position. They also got our main before we managed to pull ourselves together and slowly stop the bleeding. It was all we could do and they won with 260-194.
Some servers hangs later (damn you, patch 1.3) the deciding match started. As we still had 177 points of advantage we tried to play it safe, securing the Backyard and Mosque flag as USMC and switching to defense. We started fine but then two of our players were disconnected. The match was paused when the others noticed that commander isn't yelling anymore, but the damage was done. We lost our main flag and had to struggle to get it back. MxPT pushed hard and our tickets were bleeding as we had one, only sometimes two flags under of control. 40 seconds before the end of the match one of MxPT players was disconnected and the match was paused again. With their tank and infantry at our last flag. Those 3 minutes seemed like an eternity - will they manage to take our flag and fullcap us, will some of us survive until the time runs out, are we heading to a catastrophe?
No, they managed to get the flag to white but then we killed them and got it back. MxPT got the match with 250-118 but we got the flag and the gold. Yes,we won!
The future?
Well, who knows... As long we're having fun, we're still here.
